In 2017 our 13U team took a trip to the Dominican Republic for a week of service and baseball. For most baseball clubs the pinnacle of youth travel baseball is a trip to a large tournament with teams from all over the region or even the country (e.g., Cooperstown). We wanted to take a different approach that better reflected our core beliefs and philosophy toward youth sports. In partnership with GO Ministries, a Christian mission in Santiago, Dominican Republic, our 13U team and their dads took a trip that many claim was life-changing. Since then, we’ve taken five more trips down between 2018 and 2023 – each trip a reminder of God’s power and unique ability to transform hearts.

Our intent is for every team of young men that take this trip and spend a week serving people alongside their dads, learning life lessons on and off the baseball field.

While down there the teams:

  • Roll up their sleeves for some construction projects

  • Serve meals and play with kids at churches in poverty-stricken areas

  • Play baseball with and against local DR teams

  • Spend invaluable time as fathers and sons in a setting that will change the way our boys and their dads view the world (and themselves) forever

A NEW ADDITION TO THE TRADITION

This next May we are adding a new trip to our ministry partnership with GO Ministries. Instead of sending a team down to the Dominican Republic, we are going to bring a GO Baseball Academy team up to the U.S., specifically to the Wheaton area. Similar to Impact’s trip to the DR, the focus of this trip will be a combination of baseball, service projects, life-impacting experiences, and fun. A team of 14U players, four coaches, and a couple missionaries from GO will make the trip. From a baseball perspective, the capstone of the week will be playing in our Make an Impact Classic.
